Standing 184 feet above the San Francisco Bay, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge has served as a vital commuter corridor for over 60 years. Stretching 5.5 miles (or 29,040 feet) across Interstate 580, it connects the residents of Marin and Contra Costa counties and supports over 80,000 vehicles a day. As a Pratt Truss style bridge, it was engineered to handle large loads over long distances with strength and efficiency. In short, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is a marvel of engineering that has reliably served millions.
But in 2001, it was time for an upgrade.
After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake rocked the Bay Area, the California Department of Transportation committed to upgrading nearly every bridge in the region to prepare for future seismic events.
Upgrading the RSR Bridge presented unique challenges. Because of its size and length, there were serious conversations about closing it entirely. But recognizing the impact such a closure would have, engineers opted to keep traffic flowing during the construction. Between 2001 and 2005, the bridge underwent a comprehensive four-year retrofit—updating the superstructure, underwater foundations, and road surface—all while remaining open to the public. The project finished about $136 million under budget and remains a regional landmark and feat of engineering and planning.
So why are we talking about bridges?
Earlier this year, Leadership Circle embarked on an upgrade of our own—this time, focused on your login experience.
Just like the RSR Bridge, our Project Center login has long been reliable. But given the rise in cyber threats worldwide, we knew it was time to reinforce our infrastructure. Our goal was simple: make a secure system even more secure—without disrupting your ability to get where you need to go.
Partnering with Auth0
To help us in that mission, we partnered with one of the most trusted names in identity management: Auth0, now part of Okta. Trusted by organizations around the world, Auth0 specializes in creating seamless, secure login experiences. Their job? Making sure the right people have access to the right tools—safely, smoothly, and invisibly.
What makes Auth0 especially powerful is how it balances sophistication with simplicity. Enterprise-grade security features like anomaly detection, multi-factor authentication, and adaptive access are working constantly behind the scenes—while your login experience remains fast and easy.
By partnering with Auth0, we’re investing in the same identity platform used by some of the world’s most recognized brands. It’s another way we’re future-proofing all of our systems while keeping your experience smooth and secure.
What this Means for You
For most users, the only visible change will be a refreshed login screen. Your credentials won’t change, and you won’t need to do anything new.
The Auth0 rollout will take place in June, 2025 and should be seamless. If you run into any issues, our customer support team is ready to help.
Upcoming Enhancements & What's Next
This upgrade is just one of several enhancements we’re working on to make your Leadership Circle experience even better. While we can’t share specifics just yet, know that we’re working to make sure your data is safe, secure and accessible to you when and where you need it.
Like the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge upgrade, this update is about long-term strength—reinforcing what works while preparing for what’s ahead.
Thanks for being part of the Leadership Circle community. Keep practicing.
I just like the helpful information you provide in your articles
